STUDYBASE CONTACT DETAILS

Working hours :
  • Registered students of STUDYBASE are given access to their own designated Teagascóir Tutor whose contact details are supplied upon enrolment and who agree to be available at particular times for e-mails, text messages, phone calls, and chat.

  • STUDYBASE Office hours: 9.00 am -- 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday.

  • Most of our work is done by e-mail, post, and telephone.

  • Phone calls come at all hours of the day -- and night! -- and although most are answered the best time to phone is between 9.00 am and 1.00 pm when the office staff can respond to your call. We prefer not to use the answering machine.

Hint: if you do get to leave a message on the answering machine please note the most important part is your own phone number for us to return your call. Please leave your phone number or e-mail address slowly and clearly. Repeat if possible. We will appreciate your help.

  • Personal callers only by invitation and appointment, please.

Tutors

If you would like to offer your expertise as a teacher online please contact STUDYBASE.

We believe there will be a good uptake of our courses in Irish and that we may be able to put enthusiastic learners in touch with qualified, dedicated, and enthusiastic teachers.

If we do not have the kind of course you want please contact us and advise us on the type of course and the material you need. If you can help us prepare such a course so much the better. Even if you do not feel very confident of your own ability to write accurate Irish suitable for publication there is no need to worry. The present editor of STUDYBASE is an expert and will gladly clear your text of errors if any.

STUDYBASE will supply the technical, editorial and secretarial services required for you to run your own course on the STUDYBASE website. We will make PDFs of the lessons you supply, convert your exercises to self-correcting tests, provide MP3 audio files if appropriate, discuss other requirements you may have in mind such as graphic illustrations, video clips, or online conferences such as a ciorcal comhrá using skype and/or webcam.

Your course and its associated activities can be made available to the whole world or confined to a small number of your own students and reserved for their use only if that is your wish.

We will enrol and register students, handle fees, pay you an agreed stipend, and, hopefully, cover our own costs. [ further information ]

Financial Support:

Designing and maintaining websites is a costly business. At present this STUDYBASE project in support of the Irish language is funded by one person and supported by a number of generous technical writers and advisors.

We would welcome financial, technical, or business mentoring support from anyone keen to promote the objectives of this site which include harnessing the power of the internet

  • to promote the learning of Irish
  • to facilitate the teaching of Irish both online and offline
  • to make the teaching and learning of Irish easier and more effective
  • to provide convenient "ready to go" lessons online for use by teachers in the classroom
  • to provide self-correcting tests online to enable teachers and students to maintain a system of continual assessment while reducing the workload of the classroom teacher.

Could you help?

Please consider the following possible methods:

  • make the site well-known in your school or college and on your own website.

  • sponsor a student to participate in one of the courses.

  • write an article or feature for publication in a newspaper.

  • give publicity to the site on a radio programme.

  • volunteer to help with the technical work of preparing and uploading lessons and tests on the understanding that if STUDYBASE becomes a commercial success you will eventually receive an agreed payment for work done.

  • volunteer to write lessons and submit ideas for lessons.

  • volunteer to advise us on all the issues regarding the formation of a company to run the site.

  • volunteer to audit and prepare accounts.

  • join us in forming a limited company and invest in a share-holding in order to provide the capital required to run the project. 100 shareholders contributing €100 each would raise €10,000.

If we succeed your investment will be safe and will return a dividend. Detailed audited accounts will be provided to all shareholders.

  • make a donation to support the venture. All such donations will be acknowledged and published on the site. If you do not want your name published we will publish your receipt number and the amount received.
