On a computer with a connection to the Internet:
- Click on your browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Firefox or whatever browser you use).
- When the address bar appears write in http://www.studybase.com/moodle That should bring you to the log-in page.
N.B Hint! Don’t use Google – use the address bar. Google brings you to a list of websites, whereas the address bar brings you directly to the page you want.
- You are now on the log-in page which reads “Returning to this web site?”
- Enter the user name and password which we have given you.
N.B: User name must be in lower case letters only.
- You will now see the course or courses.for which you have been enrolled.
- Click on one of the courses and click on a lesson which will explain a point of grammar.
- Look at the panel of links accross the top of that page. You will see
...........explanations in English,
...........a link to an audio file that you can listen to,
...........and a link to exercises that will test your understanding of the lesson
.......... and enable you to gain credit for your end of course Teastas.
- Having read the lesson, listened to the audio file, checked the meaning of unfamilar phrases in the English version, it is now time for you to attempt the exercises. Click on Cleachtaí.
- Each exercise consists of a task inviting you to supply an appropriate word or phrase in response to a prompt.
You must take care to spell the word correctly and if there are no punctuation marks in the prompt punctuation marks will not be accepted in the answer.
- When you have completed a few exercises press the "Submit" button to see if your answers are correct.
Correct answers show up in green and wrong answers in red. You will obviously want your page to show all answers in green.
- Look at the answers that have been marked wrong and read again that part of the lesson where the relevent information is presented, Have you understood it correctly? Have you understood what the prompt requires you to do? Try again.
- If you are satisfied that you have given the right answer and that it is being marked "wrong" then check the spelling, the inclusion or not of punctuation marks, or capital letters where the prompt uses only lower case. You may have inadvertantly included a space between letters or some other error. Don't be discouraged. Try again.
- When you have done the best you can, or in the case of a test, when your time is up, press "Submit page" or "Submit all and finish". If, however you want to return to the exercise again and improve on your marks you can press "Save without submitting". Obviously this does not apply to time-governed tests.
- At any time you can check your overall grades, which are cumulative from exercises to exercise, i.e. the marks from one lesson are added to the next, and see how well you are doing.
- To look at your grades, go to the first page of your courses and click on the "grades" button on the top left hand side. Here you will see your individual "User report", showing exercises completed, Grades, Range, Percentage and Feedback.
- If you experience difficulty with any point, whether it be with the course content or with the website itself, remember your Tutor / Teagascóir is only an email click away. We will always respond to such a request for assistance. If you are a member of a school group ask your teacher.
- When you have completed the course to your own satisfaction you will be offered a TEASTAS to download.
- This TEASTAS will include the marks you have gained and show what you have achieved in the particular topic Hopefully this will encourage you to take on another topic and acquire a further TEASTAS. These TEASTAIS, or certificates, will distinguish you from other students if included with your CV.
- If you encounter the slightest difficulty please phone 01-6104442 or e-mail
