COURSES IN IRISH GRAMMAR

Léigh as Gaeilge

FREE SAMPLE LESSONS:

Begin with a lesson or CEACHT. You will probably want to download it, read it a few times, check out the meaning of some words in your dictionary, write notes to yourself and then attempt the exercises, CLEACHTAÍ. In many of the lessons there are MP3 files giving a reading of the lesson, and some additional material such as the airs of songs in Irish worth learning. (The singer is almost as good as DUSTIN, the turkey, but not quite. Nevertheless you can learn the air and do better yourself.) They will give you pointers to some of the sounds of Irish and the pronunciation of the words. Click here for a sample lesson.

It is not possible to do the self-assessment exercises until you have enrolled. To enrol you need to give us a little information about yourself (in order to keep out mischief-makers) and then you will receive a username and password for the courses you have chosen. After that you need only contact us if you need help with something you do not understand. There are no fees being charged at present. Click here to enrol .

This course will help you to write Irish with accuracy. The lessons, Ceachtanna, are presented entirely through Irish. The self-assessment exercises, na Cleachtaí féin-mheasúnaithe, are the most astonishing feature of the courses. They will let you know immediately if your answer is right or wrong but will not reveal the right answer to you. You must find that out for yourself from the lesson. You may of course submit a question to the Fóram associated with your course and other students will be delighted to help you. If you find yourself totally frustrated a message to your Teagascóir Tutor will help you get beyond whatever difficulty is impeding your progress. He will draw your attention to whatever rules of grammar ar involved and help you learn them. [ more ]

CB3: A COURSE TEACHING "AMHRÁIN AS GAEILGE / SONGS IN IRISH"

This course aims to make ten or more traditional songs in the Irish language better known. Songs such as An Ciarraíoch Mallaithe, An Bonnán Buí, Óró, a bhuachaillín, seol do bhó and others. Using MP3 sound files and giving the words in accurate Irish we hope to enable those interested in this aspect of Irish culture (Gaelic culture) to understand the words, learn the correct pronunciation, and enjoy singing them with their friends and fellow-students. A Teagascóir Tutor will always be on hand to help with this course and provide whatever additional material students require.
