RESOURCES FOR PRIMARY, POST-PRIMARY,
UNIVERSITY & THIRD-LEVEL TEACHERS OF IRISH
Resources
On the website www..studybase.com/moodle we are providing resources for teachers of Irish at all levels from Class 5 primary school to university degree level. Who are we? We are a team of web designers, teachers and translators trading under the business name STUDYBASE.

We are not yet offering material for complete beginners.. Click on these links to see what is already available: [intermediate level] or [advanced level ]. We welcome requests from teachers who wish to publish their own lessons and exercises on this site.
Lessons ready to display
We have set out lessons in many aspects of Irish grammar in such a way that teachers can display them in the classroom and students can study them at home in their own time. That means less expense, one less textbook to buy and less weight in the school bag.
Léachtóir agus daltaí fásta This photograph shows how a teacher can display an online ready-to-teach lesson in the classroom and explain the various points to students.

The students can revise the lesson on their own computer or mobile phone before attempting the exercises. They will receive immediate feedback as to which answers were right and which wrong. They correct their answers again and again until they have achieved the highest mark possible which they then submit for inclusion in their own end-of-course or end-of-term report. The teacher need not be involved in such corrections.

Exercises with e-marking
Until a student actually uses a grammar point they will not have learnt it or feel that they know it. They don't own it. We provide relevant exercises after or during each lesson. When they begin those exercises they begin to learn. It is difficult to learn without having an objective. The exercises are the most important part of the teaching and learning. They motivate the student to learn.
Automatic correction of exercises
Until very recently teachers had to correct those exercises in their own time after class and the more able students had to wait for their less able classmates to finish the task. Now thanks to the computer program we use and the time and effort we have put into coding the questions and answers the student can know immediately if an answer is right or wrong.

Teachers can now devote attention to those students who find difficulty in understanding a particular point of grammar or in doing a particular exercise while the rest of the class works away at their own pace. If parents feel competent they can also help at home.

Continuous assessment
In addition to the advantages listed above teachers can conduct continuous assessment of their students' work from their own computer.
Christmas, Summer and Parent-Teacher Meeting reports instantly available
At the end of each term a teacher can obtain accurate marks or "results" based on the work done by a student during the term for inclusion in the end-of-term report. All that information is available at the press of a button. Marks are recorded and can be added together automatically when the teacher wants to use the cumulative marks or percentage in a report.
Certification
At the end of a course a student can download a personalised TEASTAS, certificate, for inclusion with a CV.
