COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Lessons suitable for display on a screen or whiteboard to be used by teachers linked to exercises with automatic e-marking for use by students wishing to apply what they have learned.

Each course consists of a number of Aonaid units, a Forum, and the advice and assistance of a Teagascóir Tutor by e-mail, or on the Forum. The courses on offer at present are at intermediate or advanced level and are delivered mostly in Irish.

Each Aonad contains:

  • AN CEACHT The Lesson [PDF and/or Web Page; Audio]
This is usually a description of a point of grammar and numerous illustrative examples presented in downloadable print form, either in PDF or as a Web Page. These can also be displayed in a classroom on an overhead screen. In many lessons You can listen to a recording of An Ceacht in order to learn the pronunciation of new words.

  • NA CLEACHTAÍ The Exercises
The exercises enable you to test your understanding of the points explained and immediately check your answers online. They are marked ceart right or mí-cheart wrong. We don't just give you the right answer. You must find it yourself from the lesson. If you get some wrong you may study the explanation and examples given in the Ceacht and try again.

  • MEASÚNÚ Assessment
Each exercise consists of three or four sections. Each section may contain ten or fifteen questions to challenge your knowledge of Irish grammar and your accuracy. Each exercise carries 100 marks. You can try the exercise again and again until you know it well then you can add it to your overall mark. Marks are cumulative and are all added up at the end to show your achievement.

  • FÓRAM The Forum
The Fóram gets you writing Irish and reading the posts in Irish that others have written. Apart from the TEAGASCÓIR Tutor all those entitled to post to the Fóram will be students on the course and will be at a similar level to yourself. As for the content of the posts you can ask questions, answer queries from other students, introduce yourself to the others (anonymously if you wish), write a diary online and comment on anything you wish. Normal netiquette will apply and all inappropriate postiings will be removed.

  • CÚNAMH IS TACAÍOCHTAssistance and Support
Once enrolled If you find difficulty with some point there is help at hand from other students via the Forum and from An Teagascóir the Tutor assigned to your course.
